Which is kinder to the pocket when it comes to using light bulbs and household electircity consuming goods?

Ok rule of thumb, always turn off lights and any electronics not being used at that time. Even go as far to unplug any unused ELECTRONICS (get power strips for easy on / off). Nearly every thing that plugs in uses power, even off. Lights: replace every bulb you can reach with the twisty type energy efficient ULF. (pay a bit more now for bulbs but you will see a lower power bill the next month, and that adds up fast). Your 20 min. = turn off. Don't let kids flicker the lights, that burns them out fast. Oh JSYK if you have any light that is controlled (even partially) by a remote, ULF's will do strange things, if two sockets in one fixture = 1 reg bulb 1 ULF, works fine.
